Lab Hours and Information

The UMass Soil and Plant Tissue Testing Laboratory is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Orders being hand delivered should be dropped off in the Soil Lab Office in Room 203 of Paige Laboratory

Turnaround time for samples

Turnaround time for Routine Soil Analysis is currently 3-6 business days from the time samples are received.  Test results for other media such as compost, plant tissue, or metals testing may take 2-3 weeks.  Check back here for more information if your test results are taking longer than anticipated.


If your soil test results are long overdue, please call or email us!  Occasionally, emailed soil test results get mistaken for Spam, and are deleted unseen by the customer.  If you think this may have happened with your test results, let us know and we can re-send your results.  Otherwise, we appreciate your patience and will do our best to get your results to you a quickly as possible.

Payment Policy

All orders for Soil, Compost, Plant Tissue, and/or Greenhouse Media testing must be accompanied with payment. Samples received without payment will be held for two weeks before being discarded.
